Sahastradhara is a very famous tourist place in Dehradun. The meaning of Sahastradhara is ‘ the thousandfold spring’. This place is 14 km away from the city. The natural beauty of Sahastradhara is amazing. You can see many small waterfalls here. People enjoy taking bath here. This is also believed that water of Sahastradhara can cure many skin diseases.   Here water dips from limestone stalactites which give this water a therapeutic value. There is a temple of Lord Shiv near Sahastradhara. The name of this temple is ‘Tapkeshwer Mahadev’. There is a water drop dip on the Shiva Linga in this temple. That’s why it is called so. You should visit here as well to see this magic of nature.

Lachhiwala is famous as a family picnic spot. It is on the Haridwar Rishikesh road. Lachhiwala is  22 km far from Dehradun. There is a well-maintained man-made pool. Suswa River is the main source of water in Lachhiwala. This place is surrounded by the natural beauty. Tourist can enjoy bird watching, sightseeing, and trekking here. For accommodation, there are many guests houses near to this place.

The beauty of waterfalls always attracts tourists. The magnificent beauty of Tiger fall at Chakrata is far from any artificial thing and gives a memorable memory of being with nature. The roar of the waterfall and the sounds of birds fill the mind with happiness. Here is a waterfall of 50 mt and this place has dense forest around it.  This place is usually not very crowded because it is not very much developed yet but if you love natural beauty you can reach here easily through a very easy trekking way of 5 km. Cab services are also available here from the bus stand of Chakrata.

Forest research institute is one of the must visit place in Dehradun. Daily many tourists come here to visit this place. This place is situated on Kaulagarh Roa. The architecture of this place is marvelous. This building has visible proud on its Greek-Roman architecture. It was established in the year 1906. There are six museums in this building and everyone is dedicated to one different field. Each of the museums has a vast range and wow collection of different things. Timing to visit this place is 9:00 am to 5:30 pm and the entry fee is INR 10 rupees per person. This is a must visit place in Dehradun.

  1. A journey to robber’s cave

Robber’s cave is 8 km far from Dehradun. This place is near to Sahasradhara. Robber’s cave basically is a river cave formation. It is approx 600 mt long. Here you can get the water level up to knees. You can enjoy the waterfalls here. Among local people, this place is known as  Gucchupani. It is said at the time of British Raj this place was used by robbers for hiding from others.

  1. A visit to Mindrolling Monastery

Mindrolling Monastery was built in 1965 by Khochhen Rinpoche. This is one of the six monasteries of Buddhism. A 60 mt grand stupa is situated here. Its architecture is a treat to eyes. The life of Lord Buddha is depicted on its walls. You can visit this place any time between 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.

  1. Tapovan

Tapovan is 5 km away from Dehradun city. This place is full of greenery and its sightseeing gives satisfaction. Being located on the banks on river Ganga, this place is also considered as a holy place for Hindus. Here yoga courses also conduct by the ashram which makes it more popular to get some inner peace. It is not a crowded place and a must visit a place far from the hustle bustle of the city.
