From Indian television to Bollywood, we try to reflect the moments that made the stories and remain in controversies in 2017. So lets have a look –
The Sanjay Leela Bhansali Directorial Padmavati came into controversy after the Rajput Community organisation, Karni Sena asked for a nationwide ban on the movie due to having a dream sequence and intimate scenes between Alauddin Khilji and Queen Padmini. The controversy kept getting bigger and bigger that its sets were burned, the crew and even Mr. Bhansali himself got physically assaulted. The threats were issued against the starcast, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. The controversy became a national issue and many political parties also jumped into the matter to make it even worse. And thus, the December release of the Movie is still struggling for a new release date. We have 25th as a final release date and if it will release on the same date, it has to face a clash with Akshay Kumar starring Padman in the theatres.
- Kapil Sharma- Sunil Grover Fight
This news shook us more than any other news when the two popular comedians Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover had a mid-air tiff and Kapil, reportedly, under the influence of alcohol, hurled a shoe at Sunil when he tried to stop him from abusing Chandan Prabhakar, another comedien and colleague. And following that, Ali Asgar, Chandan, Sugandha Mishra and Sunil Grover left the then highest rated and most famous comedy show on Indian television. After that, Kapil also posted an apology on his twitter handle but nothing seemed to work between the two. After a few months of the well-known fight, The Kapil Sharma Show’s TRP went a lot down and in due course, it went off air citing Kapil’s bad health.
- Priyanka Chopra – PM Modi meeting
Priyanka Chopra met PM Modi on his visit to Berlin. But the meeting turned out to be sour after social media users slammed her for showing legs during the meeting as a disrespect of the protocol one needs to follow while meeting the PM. Then her mother came to the rescue saying she was there for the promotion of Baywatch and she got no time to change.
- Nepotism Debate
One of the most outspoken and badass actors of the industry, Kangana Ranaut again proved that she really is one when she called Karan Johar the ‘Movie Mafia’ and the ‘Flag bearer of Nepotism’ on his own chat show Koffee with Karan. She explained it by saying that he cast only star kids. Well Karan had no option but to take everything in his stride. It became even a bigger controversy when at the IIFA Awards event this year, Karan, Saif Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan made fun of Kangana by chanting ‘Nepotism Rocks’. They later had to apologise for doing so.
- Mallika Dua- Akshay Kumar
On the set of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, the Judge Akshay Kumar, Trying to being funny, passed some comments on the commedian and colleague, Mallika Dua. His comment triggered controversy and offended Mallika’s Father posted a reply on facebook, but later deleted it. Akshay remained silent on this but his wife, Mrs Funnybones turned up in his support and explained how the entire thing has been taken in bad light instead of treating it as just a humor.
